earth hour

How efficient is your furnace? Find out when you participate in Earth Hour this year.

What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour began in Sydney, Australia in 2007 as an effort to raise awareness for energy conservation. Since then, it has grown to become an internationally recognized grassroots movement. Earth Hour takes place on March 30th at 8:30pm, your time (wherever you are!)

How to Participate

To participate in Earth Hour, you simply turn off your lights and devices that use electricity for one hour. While you are sitting in the dark, you can take time to reflect on other ways you can help save the planet and how you could reduce your energy consumption beyond Earth Hour.

You could also consider hosting an Earth Hour event such as dinner in the dark or stargazing. Check out your local events calendars as there may be larger scale events taking place around you that you can attend.

Tips for Participating in Earth Hour

In such a digital age, it can be overwhelming to think about participating in Earth Hour, but it is certainly a worthwhile cause. Here are some tips to help you celebrate Earth Hour effectively and comfortably:

• Turn off the lights
• Light a fire in your wood burning fireplace
• Get candles ready
• Turn off electronic devices
• Set your thermostat lower
• Go outside and enjoy the night sky
• Get out your blankets
• Wear extra layers.

Green HVAC Technology

After taking time to consider making a positive environmental impact, you may begin to wonder what else you can do to help. You may ask “how efficient is my furnace?” or “is my air conditioner harming the environment?”

Well, there’s good news. The HVAC industry has taken steps to improve environmental sustainability. Green HVAC technology is more efficient, will save you money, will last longer and will reduce your carbon footprint compared to older HVAC systems.
